Ajusa 57005400 - valve stem seal set

Valve seals (valve stem seals) are small but key components of the cylinder head that control the amount of oil lubricating the valve guide and stem. Too much oil getting into the combustion chamber causes it to burn together with the air-fuel mixture, which shows up as blue smoke from the exhaust.

Symptoms of worn seals

• Bluish smoke from the exhaust pipe, especially visible at start-up and after a long stop
• Increased engine oil consumption between changes
• Carbon deposits on the spark plug electrodes
• Uneven engine running when cold

Material and application

The Ajusa set is made to OE specifications and is intended for petrol engines used in, among others, the Suzuki Alto, Suzuki Baleno, Suzuki Carry and related Holden Barina and Vauxhall/Bedford models sold under those brands in other markets. Before buying, check compatibility with the specific engine by the engine code.

Installation

Replacing the seals requires removing the cylinder head or using a special tool for replacement without removing the head (with the piston supported by compressed air), then compressing the valve spring, removing the old seals and fitting new ones onto the valve guide.
