BOSCH K S02 000 026 – hydraulic power steering pump

Description

A Bosch vane-type hydraulic power steering pump. It generates the oil pressure that reduces the force needed to turn the steering wheel. Replacement is necessary when the pump is noisy (whining when turning), loses pressure or leaks.

Installation

After replacing the pump, the system must be flushed or at least have the oil changed and be thoroughly bled. It is also worth checking the reservoir with its filter and the lines – contamination from the old pump shortens the life of the new one.
