Brake pad wear sensor - front and rear set

A set of two brake pad wear sensors - one for the front axle and one for the rear axle. The sensor, in the form of a wire with a contact tip fitted directly in the brake pad, informs the driver (via a warning light on the dashboard) when the friction lining reaches its limit thickness and the pads need replacing.

Use

The sensor works by breaking the electrical circuit when the brake pad wears down to the metal backing plate - the end of the sensor wire is then worn through by the brake disc, which generates a warning signal. The solution is used in many modern passenger cars. Before buying, check that the part number matches the make and model of the vehicle, because the wire length and plug type differ between manufacturers.
