Elring 717.480 - Valve Cover Gasket

The valve cover gasket from the German brand Elring ensures a tight seal between the valve cover and the engine's cylinder head. It prevents engine oil leaks and keeps contaminants from getting into the valve train.

Material and construction

The gasket is made of metal, round in shape, and designed to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. The metal construction withstands high temperatures and long contact with engine oil, retaining the flexibility needed to maintain the seal.

Symptoms of a worn gasket

• Visible oil leak on the valve cover housing

Installation

Replacement requires removing the valve cover, cleaning the mating surface of old gasket residue and fitting the new one while observing the proper tightening torque of the cover mounting bolts.
