The Febi Bilstein 171985 timing gear is a part of the variable valve timing mechanism (VarioCam / Camshaft Adjuster) fitted on the camshaft. The part has 44 teeth and is placed on the inlet side of the timing drive, where it transmits drive from the chain or belt to the camshaft while allowing the valve timing to be adjusted depending on engine speed and load.

The part fits selected engines installed in Mercedes-Benz vehicles from 2002-2018, including the Sprinter (906), C-Class (W203, S203, CL203, W204, S204), E-Class (W211, S211, W212) and CLK (C209, A209) and CLC (CL203).
