Febi Bilstein 48384 - oil pump drive chain

The Febi Bilstein 48384 chain transfers drive from the crankshaft to the oil pump, giving it constant, synchronized operation independent of the main timing chain. It is a closed Simplex chain with 52 links and an 8 mm pitch, made to the G53HR/G53HP specification.

Application

The part fits petrol engines fitted in MINI models: Hatchback (R56), Cabrio (R57), Clubman and Clubvan (R55), Coupe (R58), Roadster (R59), Countryman (R60) and Paceman (R61), produced in 2006-2016. It corresponds to the original MINI part numbers 11 27 7 500 502 and 11 41 7 535 091. The manufacturer notes that installation requires a special service tool to set the pump drive correctly.

When to replace the oil pump drive chain

A stretched or damaged oil pump drive chain disrupts the synchronization of the pump with engine speed, which can lead to unstable oil pressure and accelerated wear of lubricated parts. It shows up as metallic noise from the lower part of the engine and, in advanced cases, oil pressure fluctuations visible on the gauge.
