Gates KP15578XS - Complete Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump

The Gates KP15578XS timing kit is a complete set of timing drive components intended to be replaced together during engine service. The kit includes the timing belt, pulleys (tensioner and idler) and a water pump, so all the parts most exposed to wear are replaced together in one service cycle.

Application

Gates is one of the leading manufacturers of timing belts and drives on the spare parts market, supplying components both to car factories and to the aftermarket. The KP15578XS kit is intended for engines fitted to selected Renault and Nissan models from 2000-2010, including Renault Clio II, Kangoo, Scenic II, Megane II, Thalia I and Nissan Almera II and Micra III. Before buying it is worth checking the vehicle's VIN, because the engines in these models came in several displacement and power variants.

Why replace the whole kit

Replacing only the timing belt without the pulleys and water pump is a common service mistake - worn pulley bearings or a leaking water pump can cause premature failure of the new belt and, as a result, serious engine damage (in interference engines, where valves can reach the pistons, a broken belt means a costly cylinder head overhaul). Fitting the entire kit at once removes the risk of a single component failing again soon after and lets you plan one longer workshop stop instead of several separate repairs.
