INA 531 0825 10 - timing belt tensioner pulley

The INA 531 0825 10 tensioner pulley maintains correct timing belt tension while the engine is running. The pulley has an outer diameter of 67.80 mm and a width of 25.50 mm, and its job is to compensate for changes in belt length caused by temperature and to eliminate slack that could lead to the belt skipping teeth.

Use

The part fits 1.6 and 2.0 TDI diesel engines used in many Volkswagen Group models, including the VW Passat, Golf VI, Touran, Tiguan, Sharan, as well as the Audi A4 and Skoda Superb from approx. 2007-2015. It corresponds to VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda catalog numbers 03L 109 243 B/C/D/F and to replacements from other manufacturers, including Febi Bilstein 36893 and INA F-577090. Because it is used in so many TDI engines from this period, compare the part number with your old pulley before buying.

When to replace the tensioner pulley

The tensioner pulley is replaced together with the timing belt during scheduled service, because its bearing wears at a similar rate to the belt itself. Typical symptoms of a worn pulley are metallic noise from the timing drive side and uneven engine running caused by unstable belt tension. Neglecting replacement can lead to the timing belt snapping and serious engine failure.
