TRW SJ1039 – brake caliper repair kit

A brake caliper that sticks or leaks does not always need to be replaced with a new one. Often it is enough to renew the seals and moving parts. The TRW SJ1039 repair kit is intended for exactly this kind of overhaul of a caliper with a 38 mm diameter piston.

Why repair a caliper

• restores sealing and smooth piston operation,
• costs much less than a new caliper,
• comes from a recognized manufacturer of brake systems.

Use

The kit applies to TRW calipers with a 38 mm piston used, among others, in selected Volkswagen models (Golf, Polo, Passat, Caddy, Bora, Sharan, Transporter IV), as well as in some Volvo S40 and Ford Galaxy cars. Check compatibility by the caliper number or vehicle data, because the manufacturer states restrictions for individual versions.

Specifications

After repairing the caliper, remember to bleed the brake system and check its operation before driving.

With the kit you can rebuild the caliper without replacing the whole component. The seals in a 38 mm piston are the most commonly worn element, and replacing them restores full brake performance and prevents the pads from sticking. The kit is light and compact, so it is easy to keep in the workshop for future repairs.
