The K & N 69-3517TS Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, flexible-mandrel intake with an aluminum tube, designed for use on selected Ford Focus models. It replaces the factory air filter and air intake housing, providing a significant reduction in airflow restriction, which improves airflow and allows the engine to take in more air than a stock system. This results in more power and acceleration throughout the engine's rev range.

The 69-3517TS air intake is equipped with a high-flow K & N air filter with a chrome coating and a heat shield, which is installed in the former airbox space. The intake tube has an attractive silver powder-coated finish for durability. It also includes the factory mass air flow sensor, an EVAP vent line and a replacement silicone breather hose. The oversized cone-shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before requiring service, depending on driving conditions. Installation is relatively simple, usually taking 90 minutes or less, using the existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, a ratchet and a hex key.
