VEMO V30-72-0081 - oil temperature and pressure sensor

The VEMO V30-72-0081 sensor combines engine oil temperature and pressure measurement in one housing. It sends data to the dashboard gauges or to the engine control unit, informing the driver about the current operating parameters of the lubrication system - both oil overheating and a drop in oil pressure below a safe level.

Application

The sensor has an M12 x 1.5 mounting thread and a pressure switching point set at 3 bar. It fits a wide range of classic and commercial Mercedes-Benz models, including the SL (R107), classic S-Class (W116, W126, C126, C140), W123 and W124 sedans, the 190 (W201), as well as the T1, T2/LN, Sprinter and Vario commercial vehicles from the early 1970s to 2000. It corresponds to the original Mercedes-Benz part numbers 0055241817, 0065429417 and 0055421817. Because of the very wide application across many vehicle generations, compare the part number with your old sensor before buying.

When to replace the sensor

A faulty oil temperature and pressure sensor gives wrong readings on the dashboard gauges - false oil overheating warnings or no reaction to a real pressure drop, which makes ongoing checking of engine condition harder. In classic Mercedes models, where analog gauges are the main source of information about engine condition, a working sensor is especially important for safe operation.
