Wohlstand - magnetic oil drain plug M16 x 1.5

A magnetic oil drain plug is a bolt that closes the drain opening of the oil pan, fitted with a magnet that collects metal particles produced while the engine runs. As a result, every oil change gives extra information about the wear of the engine's internal parts - an excessive amount of particles on the magnet may signal progressive wear.

Uses

The plug has a universal M16 x 1.5 thread, fitting the oil drain port in many passenger cars and motorcycles. It is made of SS304 stainless steel with a neodymium magnet, which ensures durability and corrosion resistance. Because of the universal nature of the thread, before buying it is worth measuring the thread of your current plug or checking the engine specification, as manufacturers use different thread sizes depending on the model.

Why replace the plug with a magnetic one

A standard drain plug does not retain metal contaminants circulating in the oil, while the magnetic version catches metal particles, reducing their amount in the circulating oil and making it easier to detect unusual wear of engine parts early. The plug is fitted in the same way as a standard one - with a copper gasket that keeps the connection sealed.
