A simple, solid tool for pushing in the caliper piston before fitting new pads. When the pads are worn, the piston extends far out of the cylinder and the new, thick linings simply do not fit. A brake piston rewind tool lets you push it in evenly, without prying with a screwdriver and without the risk of damaging the rubber boot.

Construction

• steel backing plate that rests against the rear wall of the caliper,
• long threaded spindle with a swivel pressure foot,
• star-shaped knob for manual operation,
• 10 mm hex at the end of the screw – can be tightened with a wrench or ratchet.

What it is suitable for

The tool is designed for calipers with straight push-in pistons, typical of the front axle of most passenger cars. The swivel foot does not turn the piston but moves it axially, so pressure is distributed evenly. It is a practical piece of equipment for a home garage and small workshop, useful for every brake pad replacement.

Before pushing the piston back, it is worth unscrewing the fluid reservoir cap and monitoring the fluid level, because fluid returns to the reservoir.
