Tourmax ignition condenser for Honda CB 500T

The Tourmax ignition condenser is part of the classic ignition system used in older motorcycles equipped with contact breaker points, such as the Honda CB 500T from 1975–1976. The condenser's job is to suppress sparking at the breaker points as they open, which protects the points from excessive wear and supports proper voltage build-up in the ignition coil.

Importance for engine operation

A healthy condenser directly affects the quality of the ignition spark and, in turn, the smoothness of engine operation, ease of starting and fuel consumption. A damaged or worn condenser shows up as hard starting, intermittent running at low rpm and faster wear of the breaker points.

The condenser, marked DTO-2, is dedicated to a specific motorcycle model and year, so before buying it is worth verifying compatibility against the part number in the vehicle's technical documentation.
