The Hilka feeler gauge is a set of 32 thin measuring blades used to check narrow gaps and clearances, for example valve clearances, spark plug gaps or assembly distances. It is a basic measuring standard useful in automotive and mechanical workshops and when adjusting machinery.

Range and scales

The set includes blades with a thickness from 0.04 to 0.88 mm on the metric scale and the corresponding values from 0.0015 to 0.035 inch on the inch scale. Each blade is individually marked with its thickness, which makes it easy to quickly choose the right gauge when measuring.

Construction

The set additionally includes a brass blade with a range of 0.010–0.254, useful for work where steel parts cannot be used because of the risk of sparking or conducting current. The blades are joined in a compact, folding body for universal use.

Applications

The feeler gauge is suited to adjusting engine valve clearances, setting the spark plug electrode gap, checking assembly gaps and other work requiring precise checking of small distances.
