DS18 PRO-ZXi8M - 8-inch midrange speaker

The DS18 PRO-ZXi8M is a single midrange speaker with a diameter of 8 inches (20 cm), intended for building or repairing a home speaker cabinet. The manufacturer specifies home use, so the speaker can serve as a replacement part in a stereo speaker or as the basis of your own speaker build.

Power and sound parameters

The speaker handles 350 W RMS at a maximum power of 700 W and an impedance of 8 ohms, which allows it to be used in more powerful audio systems. A high sensitivity of 99 dB translates to loud sound with relatively little amplifier power, and the frequency response of 80-8000 Hz covers the key midrange, responsible for vocals and most instruments.

Construction

The cone is made of black paper, set in an aluminum basket, with a semi-rigid, double-roll fabric suspension. The 1.5-inch voice coil is wound on fiberglass, and the magnet combines ferrite with neodymium, which improves control of the cone during larger excursions.

Installation

The mounting hole diameter is 18 cm and the mounting depth is 8.7 cm - it is worth checking these dimensions before installing in an existing speaker enclosure.
