Garmin OnDeck – 12V relay switch

The OnDeck relay switch is part of the Garmin OnDeck system, which enables remote monitoring and remote control of a boat from an app or a compatible chartplotter. The module acts as an intermediary between the control electronics and the vessel's electrical system.

The OnDeck system and remote circuits

The OnDeck system lets you remotely switch selected devices on the boat on and off, for example deck lighting, pumps or other loads powered from the 12V system. Up to five such switches can be used within one system, which lets you expand the range of remotely controlled circuits.

Operating parameters

The device works in automatic mode and is intended only for direct-current circuits with a voltage of 12 V. The rated contact current is 12 A, which is enough to handle typical loads installed on yachts and motorboats.

Installation

The switch is installed in the boat's electrical system according to the manufacturer's instructions. Because it involves working on power circuits, it is worth entrusting the installation to a professional – marine electrics require good knowledge of a boat's wiring to avoid connection errors.
