Shimano CN-HG93 - 9-speed bicycle chain

The Shimano CN-HG93 chain is a drivetrain part intended for bicycles with a 9-speed derailleur system. It has 114 links, which covers most typical sizes on road, trekking and mountain bikes, and the excess links can be shortened during installation to fit a specific bike.

Construction

The chain uses Shimano HG (Hyperglide) technology, which makes gear changes smooth and quiet under load. The single link pattern offers a good compromise between strength and low weight.

Use

It is a direct replacement for a worn chain on bikes with a 9-speed drivetrain, regardless of the derailleur manufacturer, as long as the cassette geometry matches the 9-speed standard. Regular chain replacement extends the life of the cassette and chainrings.

Installation and maintenance

Installation requires shortening the chain to the correct length and joining it with a connector or pin compliant with the Shimano specification. Regular cleaning and lubrication is recommended, which reduces friction and delays wear of the sprockets.
