ReadyWise Grab & Go - freeze-dried food for 3 days for 1 person

The ReadyWise Grab & Go set is a stock of ready meals that you just add hot water to. This is freeze-dried food, so on the trail, at a campsite or in an emergency drawer at home you have a hot meal at hand without cooking and without washing pots. Everything fits in a sealed dry bag that is easy to pack into a backpack or car trunk.

What you get

The set contains 28 servings of lunch and dinner meals, arranged to provide about three days of food for one person. The manufacturer states an energy value of around 1800 calories per day. The flavors are varied, and some of the dishes are vegetarian, which makes it easier to avoid boredom on a longer trip.

How to prepare it

• open the pouch and pour in the measured amount of hot water,
• stir and close the pouch,
• wait about 15 minutes and eat straight from the package.

This way of preparing reduces fuel and dishware use, which matters on hikes, kayaking trips, sailing and hunting.

Shelf life and uses

The meals are hermetically packed, and the manufacturer declares a shelf life of up to 25 years when properly stored. The set works as camping food, emergency food for crisis situations, and provisions for trips where there is no access to a kitchen.
