Bodum Kenya - French Press coffee maker

The Bodum Kenya coffee maker is a classic way to make aromatic coffee at home without an electric coffee machine. The Danish brand Bodum is known for simple, functional coffee brewing solutions, and the Kenya model has for years remained one of the best-known examples of the French press system.

Brewing method

The coffee maker uses the plunger system typical of Bodum - just add coarsely ground coffee, pour in hot water, wait about four minutes, and then slowly press the plunger down to separate the grounds from the finished brew. This method gives a full, distinctive coffee flavor, because the coffee oils are not caught by a paper filter, as they are in traditional drip machines.

Materials and construction

The carafe is made of heat-resistant, flavor-neutral borosilicate glass that does not react with the coffee or affect its taste. The metal frame and handle protect both the user from burns and the glass from mechanical damage. The 0.5 liter capacity is enough to make four cups of coffee at once.

Advantages and care

The coffee maker needs no paper filters or plastic capsules, making it a more environmentally friendly solution compared with some capsule machines. All parts are dishwasher safe, which makes it easy to keep the equipment clean after each brew.
