Hama 00071058 – Skylight 1A (LA+10) filter with 58 mm thread

A skylight filter is a classic accessory for color photos taken outdoors. It slightly warms colors, reduces the blue cast seen in photos taken in shade and under open sky, and reduces haze, which is why it is often used in the mountains, at the seaside and in landscape photography.

Lens protection

The optical glass blocks ultraviolet radiation, and the filter itself acts as a cover for the front lens element. It protects the lens from dust, scratches and fingerprints, so if it gets damaged you replace an inexpensive filter instead of the lens.

Construction

The filter has a black metal frame 5 mm thick and a front thread, which allows you to mount another filter or a lens hood on it. The glass has an HTMC anti-reflective coating, and the image stays sharp and contrasty, also in the background.
