Percussion Plus PP863 - pan flute (panpipes)

The traditional Peruvian pan flute, also known as panpipes or antara, is a wind instrument made of a row of wooden pipes of different lengths, producing successive notes of the scale. The Percussion Plus model is made of natural wood and has 13 pipes arranged in a single row, bound with a decorative, colorful tape.

How to play

The sound is produced by blowing horizontally across the top edge of the pipes, similar to playing a flute - this technique gives the characteristic, warm tone associated with South American folk music. The instrument is relatively simple to play and is well suited as a first encounter with traditional wind instruments.

Build

The wooden pipes are carefully polished, and the whole is held together by an attractive, multicolored band that gives the instrument a traditional, Andean look. The compact dimensions (approx. 20 x 20 x 20 cm) make the pan flute easy to store and carry.

Who it is for

It is a good choice for people interested in ethnic music, teachers running educational classes on instruments of the world and collectors of folk instruments.
