Blue Light 'Til Dawn Cassandra Wilson CD

Cassandra Wilson's breakthrough album, Blue Light 'Til Dawn, came out in 1994 and was immediately hailed as a masterpiece. Working again with producer Craig Street, Cassandra surprises with her choice of covers (U2 and The Monkees) while developing her own songwriting talent. Blending rock, country and blues in an original way, the artist goes beyond traditional jazz singing, achieving new success with the song "Hours". The album won recognition from AAA, NAC and jazz radio stations.

Amazon.com notes that Cassandra Wilson is a postmodern jazz vocalist, an artist who combines different musical genres. Her unique voice and interpretive genius make her an unforgettable jazz singer. Unconstrained by musical genres, Wilson draws inspiration from diverse sources, creating unique interpretations of songs. From the blues of Robert Johnson, through the soul of Ann Peebles, to the pop of Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison – every track becomes her own. She is accompanied on the album by guitarist Gib Wharton. — John Swenson
