Crucial T710 2TB – M.2 NVMe PCIe 5.0 SSD

The Crucial T710 2TB is an M.2 NVMe SSD with a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface, designed for fast gaming computers, workstations and creative work. Gen5 doubles the interface bandwidth compared to PCIe 4.0, so the system, games and large projects load noticeably faster, and copying multi-gigabyte files takes a moment. The 2 TB capacity holds the system, a dozen or so large games and current projects without constantly moving files. The manufacturer's part number is CT2000T710SSD8.

Read speeds up to 14,500 MB/s

The 2 TB version reaches up to 14,500 MB/s sequential read and up to 13,800 MB/s sequential write. This is the level at which a PCIe 5.0 SSD stops being a bottleneck in 4K and 8K video editing, work with 3D models, audio sample libraries or local AI models. The drive is also optimized for Microsoft DirectStorage, which shortens texture loading in games.

Efficient and cooler than its predecessor

Crucial states that the T710 uses about 8.25 W on average, noticeably less than the previous T705 model. Lower power consumption means less heat, but like any Gen5 drive, this unit without a heatsink should be installed under the motherboard's M.2 heatsink or under separate cooling – this is what the manufacturer recommends for the version without a heatsink.

Who this M.2 2280 drive is for

The standard M.2 2280 form factor fits most new motherboards with an M.2 PCIe 5.0 slot (e.g. AMD AM5 with 600/800 series chipsets and Intel LGA1700/LGA1851 with a Gen5 slot). The drive also works in a PCIe 4.0 or 3.0 slot – in which case the speed is limited by that slot. It also fits the PS5 console as a storage expansion, provided that a console-compatible heatsink is installed.
