Samsung 980 1TB – M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD

The Samsung 980 is a proven PCIe 3.0 NVMe drive for a computer and laptop. It is several times faster than SATA drives and works well as a system drive, especially in older computers with an M.2 Gen3 slot. The 1 TB capacity holds the system, programs and a dozen or so games. The manufacturer's part number is MZ-V8V1T0BW.

Speed

According to the manufacturer, the 1 TB version reaches up to 3,500 MB/s sequential read and up to 3,000 MB/s sequential write.

Upgrading an older computer

The Samsung 980 fits motherboards and laptops with an M.2 NVMe slot – including older ones with PCIe 3.0, where faster Gen4 drives would not reach their full speed anyway. Samsung Magician helps you migrate the system from an old drive.
