The Samsung 990 is Samsung's new PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive for an everyday computer and laptop. It offers speeds above 7 GB/s with low power consumption and at a lower price than the PRO models. The 2 TB capacity holds the system, a large game library and current projects without constantly moving files. The manufacturer's part number is MZ-V9V2T0BW.

According to the manufacturer, the 2 TB version reaches up to 7,250 MB/s sequential read and up to 6,450 MB/s sequential write.

Who the Samsung 990 is for

It is a good system drive for a home, office or gaming computer and for laptops with an M.2 NVMe slot. It uses host memory (HMB), so it has no DRAM chip of its own – this makes no difference in everyday use, and it lowers the price and power consumption.
